Hello there, my name is Hevan. and I was born with pituitary dwarfism.

By looking at my picture, how old do you think I am? Many might guess that I am around the age of 18 or 21, but actually… I'm 31. See, I was born with no sugar in my blood and your body needs glucose to grow and produce certain hormones. Since I didn’t have that vital nutrient, my body was not able to keep up. When I was six I was diagnosed with growth hormone deficiency otherwise known as pituitary dwarfism. Here is a quick and simple breakdown, just in case you're interested. :)

Normally with pituitary dwarfism in children, treatments are given in the form of hormone replacement shots to help the child grow normally. Unfortunately… my parents discontinued the treatments after a month. So, I am stuck with this disease for life. Currently, I am 4 foot and 6 inches tall which technically makes me a little person. There are downsides to having untreated adult growth hormone deficiency such as lack of energy, lack of muscle mass. anxiety and depression, annnd not to mention, deficiencies of other hormones such as estrogen and cortisol. I struggle with a lot, but please don’t assume I want you to feel sorry for me because I don't. Heck, I don’t even feel sorry for myself. To be honest I feel blessed because at the end of the day I know that I was created the way I am for a reason, and you were too! We are all fearfully and wonderfully made by a God who does everything for a reason, and who has a beautiful plan for our lives. At the end of the day, I am grateful for who I am. Thanks so much for reading
